Down in the valley....

Pin It Now! With my savior I would go.... Eh perhaps not. It has been a long time since I have sung that song in Church. Still... I would have no problem going to Anderson Valley in Mendocino county, California with my savior (Though I would be rather surprised about the savior part). It just so happens that there is a brewery there of the same name.

First up was Hop Ottin' IPA and I loved it. The aroma was a sort of grainy caramel infused citrus thing with the expected grapefruit and pine. The taste brought a little peppery bite into the fray. Overall it was a lovely IPA.

The Boont Amber Ale was absolutely lovely.
The hops sort of burn the back of my throat and leave a lasting bitterness that I love. Not the piney grapefruit non-bitterness of American "C" hops like Cascade but closer to the English style of proper bitterness. Caramel and a biscuity malt backbone are evident.

  1. "English style of proper bitterness" - really? ;)
