No matter if Irish Red is a real style or not, there is no denying that beers do exist that are called Irish Red. McGrath's is a real Irish Red in that it's an Irish beer brewed by Clanconnel Brewery in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. The aroma was fruit and toffee. Taste brought a little chocolate and coffee as you would expect. I quite enjoyed it. Smooth and well balanced are the best words I can use to describe it. I'm not sure it is any better or worse than other Irish Red's like O'Hara's and Copper Coast. One of these days I might have to do an Irish Red face off and see what they are like side by side.
I write about beer, I drink beer, I brew beer and I even wear the T-Shirt. I am a big fan of beer and campaigner for Independent breweries in Ireland.

Certainly sounds like a nice drop there. Shame there are so few Irish breweries distributed here....
