My previous experience with a Badger Ale was not very exciting. This time around I had
Poacher's Choice. Fruit beers are generally not my thing and this mostly holds true with this beer but I did enjoy it. The aroma is full on fruity raisins and liquorice. It pretty much tastes how it smells with the addition of a bitter finish. In a single 500ml bottle this beer was fine but one was enough. I can't see myself having many of these to be honest but it may suit someone who likes fruity beer. Interestingly the fruit in question is Damson which is a sort of plum.

Next was a random beer from
Brains called
The Rev. James. I found this a little more to my liking. Also fruity but without any actual fruit. I much prefer a beer that implies fruit but is achieved entirely from the 4 basic ingredients of water, malted grains, yeast & hops.
The aroma was a sort of rum cake with dried fruit and quite sweet and sticky. It smelled like a desert. The sweetness was muted on tasting which was good. I found the body a little thin but easy to drink and a nice mild bitter finish. I enjoyed the spicy undertones as well.
I quite enjoyed it and while I might not knock people out of the way to get a bottle, I would certainly not turn one down. I would be interested to try a cask version and see what the cask does with all that aroma. Now I want some Rum Cake....
