Brewdog... Love them or hate them, they do make good beer and have inventive names for those beers. Anarchist Alchemist is a double IPA with a whipping 14% ABV. I don't know what I was expecting but I'm sure it was something a little more harsh and in your face. What I got was a dangerously drinkable beer and it's bloody gorgeous. On the nose is plenty of caramel, orange and tropical fruits. On tasting I found the orange quite intense and pithy before moving on to caramel and tropical fruits and then winding down with a lovely warming booziness. You know it's strong but not quite 14% strong. The mouthfeel is just brilliant. Soft but lively carbonation which seems perfect. The finish is more bitter orange.
I would swear there is amarillo in it but apparently not, they use Centennial, Cascade, Columbus and Chinook.
The orange is the harshest thing about this beer, the closest to anarchy I can find but I think it's a lovely beer and would actually go very well at Christmas I think.
