I can't imagine that O'Bama being pictured with a pint of Murphy's would have the same international appeal. It's a pity when he visited moneygall that he did not visit the local Offaly brewery, Breweyed.Reuben Gray - TaleOfAlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15948722985150698273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188731842335528276.post-5328606610843387752012-03-06T16:03:30.168+00:002012-03-06T16:03:30.168+00:00The best thing about Guinness is their marketing. ...The best thing about Guinness is their marketing. Their 2 best ads (imo)were the one showing a pint settle with the voice over "These 30 seconds of darkness ahve been brought to you by Guinness" yhis coincided with the electricity blackouts of yesteryear. Also the ad set on the Aran Islands showing a bunch of men in apub waiting with no sound but a ticking clock, suddenly "Tá síad ag teacht" and the keg arrives by curragh to be tapped and drank. Both classics.

On an official level we thrust a pint into every dignitaries hand and take a photo which goes viral, Obama, Prince Philip, Clinton, Reagan. Then we complain about being stereotyped, look at the uproar in the US with Urban Outfitters. If the majority of locals can't be arsed trying a different stout we can hardly expect LP to do some research.

Plus no Armagnac, can't believe it.CDownoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188731842335528276.post-30938475692050905952012-03-06T14:49:27.057+00:002012-03-06T14:49:27.057+00:00I had a feeling you would correct me on that Al.

If you are going to comment on the spirits of the Czech Republic then the fruit brandies should be top of the list, slivovice (plum), tesnovice (cherry), hruskovice (pear) and jablkovice (apple) are all great.

To be pedantic (wait, what, a pedantic beer lover?), Pilsner was created by a Bavarian rather than Bohemians - indeed Pilsner Urquell waited nearly 60 years before they hired a non-Bavarian master brewer.Alistair Reecehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15929927359428659775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188731842335528276.post-32498004968747182842012-03-06T13:31:34.021+00:002012-03-06T13:31:34.021+00:00Here, here! We've never had a better choice in beers or spirits than we have now, its time that we asked our local publicans to stock even a small amount of these great products so that you average punter can have a choice. Lets support small producers like Dungarvan Brew Co, Franciscan Well, 8 degrees etc. Its better beer, full stop.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188731842335528276.post-34999828930591489982012-03-06T13:30:56.240+00:002012-03-06T13:30:56.240+00:00Here, here!
