This time I was hit with an immediate vanilla on the nose and a lovely vanilla sugar sweetness balanced with the oakiness in the background. The oak did not overpower the beer and I quite enjoyed it.
As you can see in the picture I had this with a cheese plate. The cheese plate was not too impressive, one of the tesco ones. The Cheddar was the tastiest thing on there and it was mediocre. The cashel blue I am sure is a good cheese but I have not got in to blue cheese yet, I am trying to get there though a little at a time.

It's one of those odd beers, I find. It's kind of a love-hate thing, wanting to hate it but also wanting to like it and then expecting to hate it because a lot of other people hate it... it's weird!!
The Marmite of beers I have heard it said.
Not so, I am indifferent to it. It's alright but I never buy it, for the simple reason that I can buy more interesting beer for less money.
That is very true, It is not a beer I would drink and I might never buy it again as it does not hold my interest.
The point of this blog entry was just to give it a second chance.
I did not dislike it this time but as you said, there are far more interesting beers out there that deserve my money.
