Yay a nice 750ml bottle of American IPA. 330ml to 355ml is just never enough for me. Sometimes with American IPAs I get the feeling if you have had one, you have had them all. There are the odd exceptional examples that stand out. They don't usually have anything extra in the complexity department, they simply do what they are supposed to do in a very exceptional way. The beer just comes together.
Warrior IPA from Left Hand is a beer that comes together just fine but not in an exceptional way. The aroma has the citrus and pine you expect... no demand from your American IPA. A little caramel and orange get mixed in here too. Grapefruit and pine dominate the flavour. Plenty of grassy and bready notes. From what I could ascertain from the beer, it is leading more towards the malt side of things than the hop end of the scale so if you are a hop head you might find this a little lacking but it is a very nicely balanced beer.
I would certainly drink this again without hesitation. I will just not go searching for it. If I see it, I will buy it, drink it and bloody well enjoy it. What more do you really need from a beer? None of this poncy standing in line to get a beer that is only available 1 day a year bollox. I can say that of course because I have never done it. I never will either. I will not even stand in line for my shopping for too long. If a supermarket has a massive queue and it is not moving very fast I will leave that trolly there and go somewhere else.
Sure I may have wasted all that time doing the shopping in the first place but I have my principals. Hmm sorry this turned in to a little bit of a rant...
