Yet another beer from the Beer Bloggers Conference, however this one is available in Ireland perhaps in Tallyho format (not sure), but it's also rebadged as Marks and Spencers: Southwold Dark Ale. This is a beer from the Adnams brewery and I am quite fond of some of their beers, especially Innovation.
Tally-Ho is a lovely beer. At 7.2% it is something to be sipped and enjoyed slowly. The aroma starts off with wood notes leaning towards the vanilla. Then comes fruit cake and prunes. It tastes a lot like you would expect. Prunes dominate the flavour to me. It is all raisins and other dark fruits leading me to believe that this beer would be perfect for using in Christmas pudding. Actually forget the Christmas pudding and just drink a Tally-Ho.
While you know this is 7.2% while drinking it, and the alcohol is there and makes itself known, somehow the rest of the beer manages to overcome it and you end up with a beer that is dangerously drinkable and decidedly moreish.
