One thing I am thankful for is that it's only 10% so it's not going to leave me unable to drink anything else unlike some double IPAs.
The beer pours a clear amber-red with a large fluffy white head that dissipates pretty quickly. The aroma is decidedly winey. A hint of vanilla and the slightest hint of alcohol.
When I tasted it, I immediately decided that it's a beautiful beer. The vanilla comes out amongst the dark fruits and strong malty backbone. There is a lot of the 10% showing itself but no
More please.

I spotted that, hope tehy have some left when i have funds!
ReplyDeleteSounds nice, was it from the drink store?
ReplyDelete"acetone burn" did you mean ethanol/alcohol burn?
I assume he was talking about higher alcohols that you can sometimes get in stronger beers/wood aging...Though you can get acetone in a beer too...a certain beer we drank before Christmas being a case in point...bleurgggh
ReplyDeleteIts just acetone is not an alcohol its a ketone, but what you might be smell is Ethyl acetate very similar in chemistry and the "pear drop" smell too or nail polish remover aroma
ReplyDeleteI'm aware of that I do have a chemistry degree! Nail polish remover is acetone, ethyl acetate is the pear drop, and we had that in one of the beers that weekend too. http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/855055 luckily I've had very few beers with acetone in
ReplyDeleteYeah Oblivious I meant normal alcohol burn, of which there was none. Not sure why I said acetone, I think I had that on my mind for another beer and it slipped in.
ReplyDeleteOh and lads... meow... put your handbags away :p
