I picked up some beer when I was in La Rochelle in September. La Beun'aise is based in La Rochelle and I bought a mixed three pack to bring home.
The Blanche is a typical 4.7% witbier with lots of lemon, orange and coriander spice. It's rather heavy with a slight tartness along with a bitter orange pith. There's some sort of odd chalky mineral thing going on.
The Blonde is a 5.5% blonde ale that isn't all the blonde in colour. It's a little little odd. A similar flavour to the blanche with that same chalky mineral note but it's more obvious here.
The Brune is 5% brown ale. It was the best of the three but it had that same chalky mineral quality that the others had. There was also a fair bit of bitter dark chocolate and some roast. Molasses provided the sweetness. I rather enjoyed it but I have had better.
