Kill Your Darlings
I love Thornbridge beers but I was a little bemused at the name of this beer. Kill your darlings is a Vienna style lager. There is a slight twist to the traditional hops used in this sort of beer. Amarillo and Tettnager hops are used. I didn't get much from the amarillo though.
It pours a dark ruby red with a nice fluffy white head. The aroma is a strong fruity caramel and then the taste stands out. A winey prune like fruitiness up front with plenty of caramel. It's surprisingly easy to drink for all that body.
I don't get the name of the beer, based on a movie perhaps? Whatever the root of the name, this is a fantastic beer and one I would love to have on tap in Dublin.
